Ceramics for the Digital Age

English

This virtual artist profile was created as a demo to show features of Displart.com.

I am a contemporary ceramic artist working at the intersection of digital culture, gaming aesthetics, and sculptural ceramics. I live and work in the suburbs of Tokyo, where I run my studio and shop, Digital Ceramics.

Before moving into ceramics, I studied Computer Science and spent much of my early life surrounded by video games, retro computing culture, science fiction films, and digital design. Over time, I became increasingly interested in physical materials and handcrafted objects. Ceramics became a way for me to transform digital imagery and virtual experiences into tactile sculptural forms.

Many of my works reinterpret visual languages associated with classic arcade games and early computer graphics. Pixelated invaders, modular geometries, suspended game-like compositions, and abstract sci-fi structures appear throughout my collections. Rather than reproducing games directly, I try to translate their visual logic and emotional atmosphere into contemporary ceramic objects.

I primarily work with stoneware and layered glazes, often combining matte and glossy surfaces with speckled textures inspired by CRT screens, cosmic imagery, industrial materials, and retro electronic hardware. I am especially interested in the tension between nostalgia and contemporary minimalism.

Alongside my game-inspired works, I also create abstract modular sculptures influenced by computational systems, geometry, and digital logic. Through these works, I explore how virtual environments shape memory, emotion, and our understanding of physical space.

Over the years, I have contributed to a number of group exhibitions and independent contemporary art showcases in Japan and abroad. My studio practice continues to focus on bringing together ceramics, gaming culture, object design, and speculative visual worlds.

My works can be purchased directly from the studio shop or by contacting me through the contact form.
